Bundle of 6 Cuttings
Salix fragilis"Belgium Red" - Good for colorful basketry accents, but, as with all fragilis varieties, they are on the pithy side and are difficult to use for stakes. Bright reddish-brown when dried.
May have some branching of rods during the first 2 years, but after coppicing, rods will usually grow unbranched. Although it can kick out one or two large, dominant rods, it is a healthy grower and will provide a variety of lengths for weavers.
The wine colored rods, with olive green tint, and beautiful leaves, along with its DEER RESISTANCE make it a top pick for fedges and living willow work.
Coppiced annually, it grows 7-10 ft. in a season for us. Will grow into a tree 50-60 ft. with no coppicing.
